Of course it does…Christopher Nolan has realized what “Batman” is really all about….DARKNESS! The way that Gotham was truly realized was that NYC was a cesspool…an antithesis to Superman’s Metropolis. Both the same city, just different views. Nolan (and the best Batman writers) captured the city more realistically. I have loved this series, it is more realistic to the true identities of the comic writers view.
I think that is why the best comic book tie-ins are around Batman vs. Superman. Marvel (and more importantly Stan Lee) doesn’t have this friction within their characters like DC does. Marvel wants everything to be the same, while DC looks at the world (especially NYC) through two different views. New York City can be a beacon of a great future for America, and the world, but it can also be the biggest pile of crap in said world.
I’m looking forward to this movie, and will watch it while paying too damn much to see a movie in the theater…movie prices have gone up way too much….yeah, I watched the Hunger Games (worth it) and will see The Avengers (which I believe will be worth it), but I also watched The Raven (not so much, but I thought it might be).
When all is said and done, the second movie in this series will be the best. Ledger’s job as the Joker should go down as one of the best comic-book portrayals of all time…just wish they could have done that with the best comic-book trilogies of all time. “A Time to Remember” was the best comic books ever written, and I would love to see it on the big screen…it would have to be rated R to give it justice, but it would really show those who never read the (comic) books what the Joker was really at heart…and why Batman has to struggle with not killing that sumbitch.
