A quick look around the MLB to include…When will Chris Carpenter return for the Cardinals???
Is Michael Pineda hurt??? He sure blew a shot at a rotation spot Friday night…he certainly blew a rotation spot on Friday night before he possibly blew up his arm…
The Braves signed 94-year old Livan Hernandez for some reason, meanwhile, speaking of old things, Brian McCann ditched his old-school catcher’s mask for a hockey style one…
More old things…Jamie Moyer made the Rockies at age 49!!!
The Reds still don’t know what to do with Aroldis Chapman though he’s, for now, slated for the starting rotation…
The Tribe demoted Lonny “Jizz in the hall” Chisenhall to AAA…and, is anyone worried about the fact that the Indians are the worst team of the spring by a long shot at (6-20)???

Can we start the season already??? Jebus!!! That little Japan Series aside, the season starts next week and teams are getting thier affairs in order finally, including setting roster spots, pitching rotations and defining how their season may unfold. A lot of news will no doubt be dumped on fans this weekend and I’ve got you covered to start any how!
So, hit the links, I’ve down the work for you.
Chris Carpenter has been out all spring after shoulder trouble. The team is insistant that he’ll be fine in time despite not having a time table set officially for him. However, word is that he could pitch if need be but the guy’s arm just isn’t right yet and they are targeting May… http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/30/john-mozeliak-expects-chris-carpenter-back-in-may/
In New York, the Yankers have one too many pitcher for one too few spots in their rotation. The battle apparently started as one where last year’s break out star Ivan Nova had to prove and earn his way onto the rotation. However, the Yankers are so concerned with what they have, even with Nova being a little more solid than either Freddie Garcia and Michael Pineda that they signed 40-year old Andy Pettite.
On Friday night, Michael Pineda, whom the Yankers traded away a king’s ransom for, was still trying to wiggle into the rotation. However, he was disasterous in 2-2/3 innings allowing 6-runs. Then, worst of all, he complained of pain in his shoulder and said it’s been bothering him all spring. Which, might explain his lack of velocity and troubling lack of punch this spring…http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/30/michael-pineda-may-have-just-lost-his-rotation-spot/
The Atlanta Braves Catcher Brian McCann has gone from old-school to the new after making the switch to a hockey-style helmet in the last week for use behind the plate. One of the few guys who still wear the flap-less hard-hat with old-school mask over top, McCann made the move for vision and comfort.
While a few Braves are embracing the new, the team itself just signed the old…very old Livan Hernandez. Only 15-years after stealing a World Series from the Braves with umpire Eric Gregg’s help, Hernandez joins the Braves as a washed out 37-year old who couldn’t make the lowly Astros roster. WTF?!?!?! http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-braves-blog/2012/03/30/braves-sign-37-year-old-livan-hernandez-as-relieverspot-starter/?cxntfid=blogs_atlanta_braves_blog
Speaking of old things, Colorado has penciled in 149-year old Jamie Moyer as a starter in the rotation!!! http://network.yardbarker.com/mlb/article_external/mlb_news_jamie_moyer_makes_rockies_rotation_at_49/10446818
At least the Rockies know what they have. The Reds still don’t seem to know or understand what they have in Aroldis Chapman. The fireballer is slated to be a starter even as the team has no idea what they are going to do at closer with big off-season free agent acquisition Ryan Madson being put on the shelf for the season and candidates behind him less than stellar… http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AhB0p0iJtg5o6JfMN_yinFQRvLYF?slug=ti-brown_aroldis_chapman_reds_starter_033012
Meanwhile, up in Cleveburgh, the Tribe are a bit of a mess. The best prospects aren’t exactly living up to expectations and the team recently demoted highly touted Lonny “Jizz in the hall” Chisenall to AAA Columbus after he failed to hit and win the 3rd base job..http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Al_cRstvvsDYbXEmpmbcD3OFCLcF?slug=ycn-11167576
Oh, and the Tribe this spring? Pretty bad. They’ve sucked and are buried as the worst team this spring with a record of (6-20). Any thoughts about how they’ve played to this point???http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Av8rDLvgmtGmWoBCAJ18I.qFCLcF?slug=teamreports-2012-mlb-cle
